Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon, dark red in color, is a wine of elegance and strength. Powerful and rich aromas of spice, nutmeg, oak and truffles, crushed lavender and black cherries. Sounds crazy? Try it and see! Chewy on the palate with a solid core of deep Cabernet fruit. Crisp tannins and acidity with a long, flavorful finish. Great with steak or savor it with a fine cheese in place of dessert. Drink anytime between now and 2025.

Cabernet Sauvignon
The wine critics are calling the 2001 vintage one of the very best, a 96 pointer out of 100. And, make no mistake, we agree that our 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon is worthy of such praise. The wine is generous, full and rich on the palate---a very elegant, seductive and feminine wine with a very long smooth finish. The aroma is of crushed violets, blackberries and black currants with an overall palate of deep dark fruit. Please remember that our Cabernet Sauvignons are unfiltered and unfined and will throw sediment with extended aging.

Chardonnay
The Smith-Madrone 2002 Chardonnay is a delight to drink with loads of flavor, complexity and with a very long, smooth finish. Our 2002 Chardonnay completely fulfills the first obligation of wine: to give pleasure and be unique. So many Chardonnays today are, lets face it, boring. Too many of today’s Chardonnays are made to be constant with the last vintage. Here at Smith-Madrone we strive to bring out the vintage characteristics that Mother Nature imprints on those grape berries – whatever that may be. As winemakers it is our job to extract that uniqueness from those berries and transform it into wine that reflects the characteristics of the vintage. There is no doubt that you will enjoy the 2002 Smith-Madrone Chardonnay as well as we do. A true hedonist’s delight!

Chardonnay
Our 2003 Chardonnay expresses the uniqueness of the 2003 growing season. The resulting wine is a classically structured Chardonnay in both aroma and mouth feel. This Chardonnay is very stylish and reminiscent of a white Burgundy, but without that austerity that so many California Chardonnays get when they lack flavor. This wine is full of flavor. And most important, what the wine promises in the aroma it delivers exactly on the palate---as a great wine should.

Riesling

Riesling
Balance is one of the hallmarks of great winemaking. With our Rieslings we strive for a balance not only between sugar and acid, but for a balance between two great continents - Europe as represented by Germany’s Rheingau and France’s Alsace and America as represented by us. We love the minerally middle of Alsatian Rieslings but not their sharp finish; the Rheingau offers the beautiful soft floral finish, but with too much sugar. We try to make our Riesling in a decidedly American style: a minerally middle palate with a soft floral finish with just a hint of sweetness.
