Catoctin Creek Distilling Company

Catoctin Creek Distilling Company Catoctin Creek Distilling Company was founded by Becky and Scott Harris in 2009 as the first family-owned microdistillery in Northern Virginia. We are located in Purcellville, Virginia, in the heart of the Loudoun Valley. Loudoun County, often called D.C.'s Wine Country, is home to more than twenty vineyards and wineries, and is now home to its first distillery since Prohibition. At Catoctin Creek, we believe in high quality food and spirits. Organic means higher quality: grain and fruit, sourced locally when possible, free of pesticides and chemical additives that would come through in the spirits we produce. Sure, it is more difficult to produce organically, but the results speak for themselves. And kosher is another way to respect the tradition of high quality foods.

Directions
From the east (Leesburg, Washington DC), take Route 7 west. Take the first exit for Purcellville (Route 287). Turn left onto Rt. 287, and then right onto Hirst Road (first stoplight). Travel 1.2 miles, turn right onto Hatcher Road, at the four-way stop sign (next to the new KFC and the Police Station). Cross the highway, and take your first left onto E. Nichols Lane. Then it is an immediate right onto E. Richardson. We are on the left, next to Saville’s.

  Catoctin Creek Mosby's Spirit
John S. Mosby was a Civil War colonel and leader of a local band of rangers called Mosby's Raiders. Called the "Gray Ghost" for his elusiveness during the war, John S. Mosby was fiercely independent and ever loyal to his beloved Virginia. Catoctin Creek Mosby's Spirit recalls the tradition of clear grain spirits common in the 19th century. This spirit hearkens back to the fierce independence that forged our nation despite the conflict that almost destroyed it. Catoctin Creek Mosby's Spirit is a delicious rye grain spirit, some call it a "white whiskey", with a smooth, sweet and undeniably pleasing cereal taste with floral notes and citrus. If we aged this stuff, it'd be rye whiskey. But unaged, it is just as heavenly.
  Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye
When you take our lovely Catoctin Creek Mosby's Spirit, and you age it in oak for a time, you end up with a very special rye whisky! The hardest of all whiskies to produce, rye whisky is an old time favorite that is new once again. It has a delicious woody taste, with notes of caramel, rich butter toffee, and just a hint of lemon in the nose. Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye is a great mixer in Manhattans, Cosmopolitans, and any recipe calling for Canadian or rye whisky. And unlike most rye whiskies available today, ours is never blended, only 100% pure organic rye. Delicious mixed, on the rocks, or neat. Try some this evening!
  Catoctin Creek Virginia Brandy
Brandy is an old world tradition--our continental European ancestors drank brandy after every dinner for its soothing and warming qualities. Imagine settling in with a nice glass of warm brandy, while sitting by a fire with your favorite novel. Or try adding it to a warm glass of eggnog. delicious! Catoctin Creek Virginia Brandy is made from the finest locally-grown Virginia wine grapes. It is distilled and aged in premium oak barrels for at least two years. Catoctin Creek Brandy is a fine sipping beverage unlike the run-of-the-mill brandies on the shelves today. Try some, and you'll see. This is fine stuff that warms the heart.
  Catoctin Creek Watershed Gin
Paying respect to the Chesapeake Bay watershed, in which our beloved Catoctin Creek does flow, this gin is a bit of a watershed itself. Distilled from organic rye grain, with a secret recipe of organic herbs and spices, Watershed Gin is unlike any gin you've tried. Amazingly complex, with subtle citrus and cinnamon notes, essences of fresh cut hay, and of course a crisp juniper character make Watershed gin a fine cocktail mixer. Try it with the traditional tonic and a slice of lime (or a Meyer Lemon, for a real treat!). Or mix it into your favorite summertime refreshers.
