Nestled in the heart of Virginia's famous hunt country and Blue Ridge Mountains in Rappahannock County. Experience our familys award-winning wines crafted primarily of Viognier, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. We grow nine varieties of wine grapes; each variety contributes to a broad palette of textures and flavors allowing our winemaker to create rich, supple, elegant wines reflecting our dedication to the winegrowers art. We hope each visit to our tasting room, vineyard and winery is pleasant and memorable. Hours: Feb.- Dec., daily, 11:30a.m.-5p.m., Sat., 11:30a.m.-6p.m. Closed Tuesdays. Cabernet Franc
Virginia Red Wine. A richly colored Cabernet Franc with aromas of raspberry, spice, and smoky cedar, with a hint of leather and tobacco. Rich cherry flavors evolve while surrounded with soft and "dusty" tannins, leading to a full, lingering finish. Try this wine with a barbequed leg of lamb with garlic mashed potatoes; or before the main dish with a tomato and fresh basil soup.

Claret
Virginia Red Wine. Our 2005 Claret is a dark red traditional Claret with aromas of violets, roses, strawberries, and loads of red fruit, with a hint of "smokiness"; followed by a soft and "sweetish" entry. Flavors of currants and strawberries along with soft and pleasant tannins finish this fruit driven wine; perfectly fit for your summer barbeque, or holiday meal. Save this one for a nice cool evening.

Glenway Chardonnay
This is our powerhouse white wine for 2006. 100% Chardonnay and 100% from our estate Glenway vineyard located on the winery property. Barrel fermented and aged with a healthy dose of new French oak, this wine exhibits tons of fruit. The oak-derived tannin and robust level of alcohol (13.5%) complement the fruit component to create a full-bodied white. Pair with grilled white meats and hearty side dishes.

Meritage
This is a blend of 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc, 23% Merlot, 10% Malbec and 8% Petit Verdot. Big, rich, robust and dark; aromas of cedar, leather, back stone fruit, black cherries, cassis and vanilla, leading to a full palate structure with ?chewy? tannins, and a long, lingering finish. Will pair well with most any red meat or robust meal; try it wil a grilled bacon wrapped filet mignon topped with bleu cheese.

Meriwether Vineyard Chardonnay
This is an exciting new wine from Rappahannock Cellars. 100% Chardonnay, 100% stainless steel fermented, no malolactic fermentation, and a touch of flintiness, make this wine reminiscent of Chablis, but without the Burgundian “funk.” Tons of bright fruit on the nose and palate, great Chardonnay character, and hints of tangerine, loquat, and Asian pear on the nose. The palate yields well-balanced acidity to end with a pleasantly crisp finish. Pair with a butter leaf lettuce, chilled lobster, and grapefruit, salad.

Merlot
Where do we stop... juniper berries, eucalyptus, bay leaf, and aromatic sweet herb aromas, flavors of dark chocolate, ripe plums and pears, along with an anise finish, blend for a smooth well rounded palate structure. A layered and complex wine. Try with roasted wild game such as pheasant, venison, or wild turkey; or just sit back close your eyes and meditate on the complexity of flavors in this bottle.

Noblesse Blanc
Once again an off-dry blend of Viognier, Chardonnay, Vidal, and Seyval, along with a splash of Petit Manseng. Would be paired well with picnic or light summer fare. Enjoy with a spinach and bacon salad, or be bold and pair it with your favorite spicy Thai food dish

Norton
Classic Norton . . . dark and "inky" color, with spicy aromas of clove, followed by violets, mocha, and coffee. Grape and berry flavors are bound in a spicy and supple palate structure, with firm tannins and a full finish. Aging potential of this wine is 3 to 5 years, and can be enjoyed with a variety of foods including spicy Italian Pasta with meat sauce, or classic American grilled meats and vegetables.

Norton Reserve
A Norton for all to enjoy; 75% Norton blended with 25% Malbec. Floral aromas of lavender, violets, spice, and a hint of cigar box, lead to earthy flavors of truffle and dark fruit. Full bodied with bold ?chewy? tannins and a long finish. Perfect for pairing with Indian or Thai cuisine, such as spicy curried chicken or lamb.

Rosé
Styled after the Rosé wines of France, this traditionally-made Rose exhibits aromas of strawberry with hints of old-world terroir. The palate yields fresh watermelon, strawberry, and cherry characters and finishes clean and dry. Pair with chilled shell fish, salads, and light pasta dishes; or enjoy as an aperitif. Seyval Blanc
2006 Seyval Blanc Our crisp and clean Seyval is blended judiciously with a dose of Viognier. It exudes tropical fruit aromas of pineapple and orange blossom, with a hint of floral and citrus characters. Soft and subtle flavors of citrus, and just a bit of spice, precede a well balanced and smooth finish. Try this wine with oysters on the half shell; a walnut, gorgonzola, and green apple salad; or your favorite appetizer.

Seyval Blanc
This 100% delightful Seyval has citrus, lemon grass, and melon aromas, followed by tropical and red current flavors with a veil of minerality. Steely acidity contributes to a well rounded structure and flinty-clean finish. Food Pairing Suggestion: try with your favorite sushi roll, oysters Rockefeller; or a Bib lettuce salad with candied walnuts, sliced green apple, and gorgonzola cheese.

Vidal Blanc
Elegant tropical fruit, apricot, and peach aromas followed by a full bodied desert styled palate with a delicate balance of firm sweetness and crisp acidity. Clean ripe 100% Vidal Blanc grapes from our vineyard were fermented long and slow in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to retain its incredible fruitfulness; and then bottled clean and fresh with about eight percent residual sugar. It?s everything you have come to know in our light-dessert styled Vidal! Enjoy this wine with a fruit tart, cheese plate, or by itself after dinner.

This 100% Viognier wine is stainless steel fermented and bottled early to preserve its fresh aromas of orange blossom, lemon peel, cherry, and peach. This fruit is revealed on the palate as crisp, clean, and austere. Enjoy this wine with green salads and appetizers.
