Trinchero Napa Valley
|
|
The Trinchero family immigrated to the US from northern Italy in the 1920s. In 1948 they moved to Napa Valley and purchased an abandoned 19th-century winery called Sutter Home. In 1960, the second generation of Trincheros took over and, at the end of the decade, moved the winery away from bulk sales and into bottled varietal wines. In the early 1970s the Trincheros gained a lofty reputation among consumers, press and gatekeepers for their single-vineyard Zinfandels out of Amador County. They were, in fact, among the first of California's boutique wineries to recognize the potential of the Sierra Foothills. In 1972, the Trincheros created the world's first White Zinfandel and the rest, as they say, is history. Fifty years later, to honor their heritage and long history in Napa Valley, the family launched Trinchero Winery. The Trinchero wines are divided into two tiers. The Napa Reserve wines are single-vineyard bottlings featuring grapes from the family's 200 acres of estate vineyards in Napa Valley. The Trinchero Family wines showcase the Napa vineyards plus 200 acres in Lake County and 525 acres in Santa Barbara County.

Main Street Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
No two ways about it, Main Street is a wonderful vineyard. Our 2002 is a textbook example of this fine St. Helena site. The color is opaque, indicating a wine of great depth and concentration. The nose is ripe and opulent, tinged with plums, blackberries and earth. The palate is lush, plush and firm. While it is enjoyable now, the 2002 Main Street shouldcontinue to evolve and improve over the next decade.
|
Napa Reserve Cabernet Franc
Most of the Cabernet Franc from our Main Street Vineyard is blended into our Meritage. As in its native Bordeaux, this thick skinned grape adds floral and earthy characteristics to the final blend. But, from time to time we bottle a small amount of this lesser known variety when it shows exceptional characteristics. This wine is garnet red in color with a classic varietal nose of herbal green tea leaves and flavors of red fruit—cherry, strawberry and raspberry. Enjoy with the heartiest of dishes –big juicy steaks, wild game, winter stews, and even meaty lasagna.
|
Napa Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Chicken Ranch
All of our vineyards yield wines that are distinct and recognizable from year to year. The signature flavors for Chicken Ranch are earth and dried herbs. This 2005 is textbook Rutherford Merlot. The color is deep, the nose is ripe and tinged with olives, leather and sage, and the flavors are ripe and lush.
|
Napa Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Lewelling
Thanks to a long mild summer, the fruit went
through verasion at a slower pace than usual. This allowed the grapes to
develop more color, greater complexity and tannins of greater
maturity/higher resolution. The relatively warm weather at the end of the
growing season helped produce physiologically ripe fruit.
Not all vineyards deserve their own bottling. To be worthy of singlevineyard
status, a site must produce wines that are complete, complex and
distinct. More then just delivering varietal character, each single-vineyard
bottling must convey the unique terroir of the individual site.
This 2002 is deep, dense, lush and
compelling with the signature dried herb and cassis flavor that characterizes
all Lewelling Cabs.

Napa Reserve Mary's Sauvignon Blanc
Mary’s Vineyard continues to produce wines with remarkable intensity and structure. This Sauvignon Blanc exudes ripe, exotic flavors on top of firm, palate-cleansing acids. In 2006 no new oak was used, allowing us to accentuate the bright, fresh fruit. Lightly grassy and very zingy, this wine brings together the best aspects of sauvignon blanc.
|
Napa Reserve Mee Merlot
This full-bodied Rutherford Merlot boasts enticing aromas of cocoa and blueberry augmented by spice notes of white pepper and cedar. On the palate, the wine is rich and mouthfilling, with deliciously juicy berry flavors, intriguing hints of tabacco and coco with a backbone of firm tannins.
|
Napa Reserve Meritage
This wine is deep ruby purple in color. Aromas of vanilla, cream, blueberries and cassis dominate the nose, with notes of cocoa and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and displays layers of blackberry, black cherry, cedar and spice. Viscous and complex, the wine lingers on the palate with mouthcoating fine tannins.
|
Napa Reserve Merlot Chicken Ranch
This ruby red Merlot displays all of the classic characteristics of the Rutherford appellation. Complex aromas of cedar and earth are highlighted with red berry, spice and vanilla. On the palate the wine is medium bodied with flavors of red cherry, tobacco, spice and earth. The lingering finish provides the requisite taste of "Rutherford Dust" and ends with a hint of mint.
|
Napa Reserve Petit Verdot
The rich elegant texture of our 2005 Petit Verdot is complemented when paired with dishes of equal sophistication. Our chef's favorite pairing for this special wine is apple wood bacon wrapped pan-seared filet mignon topped with a stilton cheese crust accompanied by roasted fingerling potatoes and lightly sautéed morel mushrooms.
|
Napa Reserve Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
The free-run juice and grapes were fermented using the rack-and-return method (delestage) favored by leading Bordeaux chateaux. In addition to increasing color and flavor, this process allows for the removal of seeds, which reduces astringency and produces more supple tannins. The wine was then aged eighteen months in French oak barrels.
The long warm days and cool nights of the Stagecoach vineyard produce deep ruby red Cabernet Sauvignons of ripe blackberry, plum and cassis while maintaining balanced acidity and a velvety lasting finish.
This wine can be enjoyed on its own or complement a variety of dishes such as roasted meats, Duck Bolognese and any hard aged cheese.
|
Napa Reserve Vista Montone Pinot Noir
Plush and layered, black cherry cola nose accented with spice. Rich flavors of plum and black cherry supported by a fine structure of acidity and well-integrated tannins.
|
Trinchero Family Pinot Noir
This luscious Pinot Noir balances generous ripe black cherry and mocha aromas with cedar, spice and vanilla. Sleek and supple on the palate, the wine is brimming with bright bing cherry and spice with a hint of mint.
|
Trinchero Family Selection Cabernet Sauvignon
Once again our Lake County and Central Coast vineyards yielded a powerful Cab that is deep, dense and ripe with black cherry, plum and a hint of earthiness. It delivers the warm fruit and broad mouth feel typical of our Family Cabernet Sauvignon.
|
Trinchero Family Selection Chardonnay
Our 2006 Family Chardonnay displays the tropical flavors and great acidity typical of our Los Alamos Vineyard in Santa Barbara County. There’s a slight spice on the silky smooth finish.
|
Trinchero Family Selection Merlot
This Merlot is deep purple in color, with aromas of ripe cherry and plum, and notes of vanilla and cedar. Well balanced and full of juicy, bright fruit flavors on the palate, it pairs well with a variety of food including lamb, beef, pork, tomato-based pasta dishes, and vegetarian dishes featuring mushrooms and root vegetables.
|
Trinchero Family Selection Sauvignon Blanc
This Sauvignon Blanc offers a fresh, fruit-forward style. Bright, mouthwatering citrus flavors are balanced by a subtle grassy note. On the palate, the wine is crisp in finish. This Sauvignon Blanc pairs well with fish, poultry, pork, light pastas and salads, and ethnic-inspired dishes.
|
Trinchero Family Syrah
The long growing season produced fruit with a deeply saturated purple-black hue. On the nose, the wine exhibits aromas of blueberry, blackberry, and raspberry, with vanilla and white pepper notes. The palate showcases a wealth of rich fruit with a balanced tannin structure, which integrates nicely into the richness of the fruit.
|
Vista Montone Chardonnay
Vista Montone is a cool climate site similar in many ways to nearby Carneros. The grapes from this vineyard are always intense, balanced and well structure. Our 2005 is bright, floral and understated with lemon zest and grilled almonds on the palate and finish.
