The 2011 REX HILL Jacob-Hart Vineyard Pinot Noir has a beautiful, deep, dark color and leads with primary aromas of blackberries, cherries, lavender, cassis and wet stone that broaden into more masculine, earthy aromas of clove, oak, leaf tobacco and game. A concentrated and succulent attack prefaces flavors of blue fruit, spice, iron and minerals that linger with hints of coffee and chocolate. The mid-palate is under-pinned by a rick, ripe-tannic structure and beautiful acidity that give shape and definition to the concentration of ripe fruit. True to form for Jacob-Hart this wine shows the breed, masculinity and power of the vineyard wrapped in the minerality and classic nature of the 2011 vintage. This is a wine for the cellar, that will age and gain tremendous complexity over the next 15-20 years.

The 2011 REX HILL Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is a beautiful, dark and brilliant burgundy red from the center to the rim. When first poured intense aromatics of wet stones, black cherries, ripe raspberries, cassis, tobacco and forest floor notes jump from the glass. After some time in the glass the wine opens and deepens revealing notes of iris, cinnamon, spice and huckleberries. The palate opens with red fruit flavors and an intense core of liquid minerals. The focus and minerality of the wine continues through the mid-palate and transforms into darker fruit flavors. Firm ripe tannins and a rich texture helps the wine along into the finish. The 2011 REX HILL Willamette Valley Pinot Noir has the focus, balance and intensity to age and become more complex over the next 20 years.
