Bella Vineyards and Wine Caves
|
|
Bella Vineyards, located in the heart of Dry Creek Valley, is a small winery and is primarily operated by us, Scott and Lynn Adams. In 1994, we were married in the wine country and fell in love with the land.
After spending many weekends up here exploring the area we decided our life goal would be to pursue two passions, outdoor living and fine wine. A year later we were able to begin that dream when Scott went into partnership with his father and three brothers, also dedicated wine lovers, to purchase the first vineyard in Dry Creek Valley. Later that year, we moved to the valley in order to manage the property. Then the adventure really began... for the next four and a half years, we immersed ourselves in classes and worked on the vineyards learning some of the finer points of grape growing. It was only after this time that we felt comfortable taking on the next challenge, winemaking.

Belle Canyon Zinfandel
The zinfandel made from Belle Canyon in Dry Creek Valley is becoming well known for its wonderful aromas. The 2002 will not let you down. The incredible essence of raspberry, chocolate, and vanilla tantalize the nose as soon as the wine hits the glass. In flavors and complexity, the wine is also one of the biggest and most appealing Belle Canyon zinfandels we have ever made. The wine's thick, viscous texture perfectly matches the richness of the fruit flavors. With its lovely, sweet red fruit and its long, persistent spicy finish, this is a wine to savor for hours.

Big River Branch Late Harvest Zinfandel
Fruit from century old vines were left long enough to push the flavors and aromas to a different dimension - a purely hedonistic, complex wine. The resulting dessert wine is a classic essence of zinfandel: jet black in color with intense, concentrated flavors of chocolate and black raspberry. The long, balanced sweet finish is ideal for finishing that special meal.

Big River Branch Syrah
This is the first year we have produced a syrah from the wonderful vineyard at Big River Ranch in Alexander Valley. The tiny black berries gave the wine a beautiful deep purple hue, and we were delighted to discover the intense aromas of blackberries, toasted nuts, chocolate and dried fruit that characterize a classic syrah. In the mouth, the wine is absolutely lovely with flavors of cassis, blackberry, expresso coffee and chocolate. We expect this syrah to gain in complexity and intensity over the next eight years, and last for a further eight or more years.

Big River Ranch Zinfandel
As always, the amazing 110-year-old vines from our Big River Ranch never fail to deliver a huge, delicious mouthful of fruit and spice. The wine opens up with incredible blackberry and chocolate aromas, mixed with clove and black pepper. These flavors build into a mouthful of dark blackberry fruit and spice, filling your mouth with its thick, velvety texture. The wine flavors persist for minutes, just begging you to take another sip. This wine is very special. It's our favorite Big River zinfandel we have produced and it will only continue to develop for the next eight years.

Estate Late Picked Zinfandel
In 2000, the ripening conditions were perfect to create this special, late picked zinfandel. We left the grapes on the vine long enough to push the intensity of flavors and aromas and made a purely hedonistic, lush wine. The aromas explode from the glass with notes of dark berries, jasmine and lavender. The flavors of the wine are extremely intense, with the blackberry, blueberry, and chocolate flavors lasting for minutes. This wine is wonderful by itself or accompanied by cheese or chocolate. We expect this wine to last eight or more years after bottling.

Hillside Cuvee
One of the loveliest and most drinkable wines we've ever made, this is beautiful example of a wine made from Grenache and Syrah grapes--varietals made famous by the great wines from the Rhone valley. The flavors explode from the glass with exotic aromas of plum, chocolate, blackberry, cassis, pepper, and dark spicy fruits. Thick and viscose in the mouth, this wine exhibits great structure and ends with a long, sweet, smooth, blackberry finish.

Hillside Zinfandel
This blend represents some of our most velvety and fruit-forward zinfandels from two of our Dry Creek vineyards. A classic example of the lush Dry Creek style of zinfandel, the wine exhibits lovely strawberry and black raspberry fruit mixed with hints of spicy clove and black pepper. From start to finish the wine is balanced and pure--velvety in texture, explosive in its fruit on the midpalate, and with a long, spicy finish.

Lily Hill Estate Zinfandel
Our beautiful hillside estate in the northwest corner of Dry Creek Valley uses 85-year-old vines to produce one of the most complex and appealing zinfandels. Beginning with its elegant nose of red raspberry, clove, and vanilla aromas, the wine is a treat from start to finish. In the mouth, the wine seduces your palate with sweet raspberry fruit, chocolate, coffee, and a wonderful spicy finish. Drink this wine right now, or save it for drinking within the next seven years. Either way, you'll be enjoying one of our favorite wines from one of the top zinfandel-growing regions in the world.
