Augusta Winery
In 1988 the Augusta Winery was established by Tony Kooyumjian. His goal was to produce the highest quality wine possible in the Augusta Viticultural area. The Augusta Winery features those high quality wines, ranging from dry dinner wines to sweet dessert wines. Numerous medals from around the country attest to the quality of these wines. Augusta Winery is centrally located in the historic town of Augusta, Missouri. In 1980 Augusta was recognized as the first U.S. Wine District, or Viticultural Area #1, because of its unique soil, climate, historical significance and quality of wines produced from grapes grown in vineyards that date to the 1800’s. Augusta vints its wines in small quantities so special care may be given to each lot. The Winery also features a tasting room, gift shop area with wine related items and locally produced cheese, sausages and bread available. Open Monday thru Friday 10:00 am – 5:30 pm; Saturdays from 10 am – 6:00 pm. Sundays from 12 noon – 6:00 pm.

Norton Wine Review: Augusta's Norton "Cynthiana" is a good standard by which to judge other Missouri Norton wines. It is a very good Norton wine which tends to be a bit "cherried" intense in flavors, yet dry in taste. Like all Augusta's wines, this Norton is a bit more reasonable in cost compared to other vineyards.
