As a young boy, working alongside his grandparents, Andrew Colaruotolo learned that the art of making fine wine begins in the field. Only a meticulous and beloved vineyard will yield the fruit needed to produce the best wine. Andrew packed his dreams and arrived in the United States in the spring of 1950.
After mastering tha art of stone masonry and becoming a successful home builder, Mr. C (as he is known) set our to fulfill his passion for the land. In 1974 he planted five acres of vines atop a picturesque hill in Fairport, New York, and named the vineyard, "Casa Larga", after his grandparents' vineyards in Italy.
In 1978, with their first harvest, the Colaruotolo family received three awards at the New York State Wine Competition. Since then Casa Larga wines have won over 200 awards in state, regional, and international competitions, continuing a heritage of excellence in winemaking.
