And, by following the European tradition of highlighting specific vineyard sources on our labels, those vineyards have become synonymous with Chateau St. Jean. Such vineyards as Robert Young, La Petite Etoile, Belle Terre and Durell are currently vineyards which provide us with fabulous fruit for our wines

Directions
Take 101 to Santa Rosa. Exit on California Highway 12 going Eastbound (toward Sonoma). As the freeway ends, follow Route 12 for approximately 12 miles through Santa Rosa via Farmer's Lane and continue via Sonoma Highway into Kenwood. Chateau St. Jean will be on the left. We're located at 8555 Sonoma Highway (Highway 12).

Belle Terre Vineyard Chardonnay
A beautiful nose filled with ripe pears, crème brûlée, honeysuckle and mineral notes entice the senses. A medium bodied wine packed with classic Alexander Valley flavors of yellow apples, poached pears, wet stone and citrus is backed by sweet vanilla oak and lingering notes of peaches.

Belle Terre Vineyard Chardonnay
Tell tale notes of cantaloupe melon, nectarines and peaches give away the nose of this Chardonnay as Alexander Valley fruit. A beautiful medium-bodied entry of ripe pears and toasted oak flavors surround a perfectly balanced wine. Rich and ripe without too much weight, this wine lingers in the mouth with hints of vanilla and yellow stone fruits long after it’s gone.

Cabernet Franc, St. Jean Estate
From our own Estate Vineyard, this wine is only produced when Mother Nature provides us with a little windfall. Since we use Cabernet Franc in many of our Bordeaux blends, sometimes, we have none left to bottle by itself. This varietal is the “cousin” of Cabernet Sauvignon and it will display some similar fruit characteristics such as black berries and ripe cassis but it will also show some pleasant espresso coffee beans aromas with pomegranate and spicy cracked peppercorn flavors. Very limited, only 300 cases.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve
This superb wine is styled to showcase the best of Sonoma, made from premium grapes from several of Sonoma County’s finest vineyards, spanning from Carneros to Alexander Valley in order to craft a wine that expresses a full range of fruit flavors.
This Reserve wine consists of Cabernet Sauvignon (86%) blended with Merlot (10%) and Malbec (4%).
Built to age, this cabernet is very well structured and well balanced, showing a lot of power and gorgeous finesse true wine connoisseurs find so captivating. In the nose, you will find attractive aromas of blueberry, black licorice and cassis and on the palate, you will discover layer after layer of black currant, raspberries, chocolate and sage around fleshy tannins. A “Grand Vin”! Drink from 2010 to 2025.

Chardonnay Sonoma County Reserve
This medium-bodied Reserve Chardonnay opens with pleasing aromas of Bosc pear, lemon candy and nutmeg. Unctuous notes of creamy lemon bar and kiwi fruit are backed by subtle hints hazelnut, baking spice and mineral characters. The well-balanced acidity and complexity of flavors lead to a lengthy lemon oil finish.

Chardonnay, Durell Vineyard, Sonoma Valley
Pleasing aromas of melon and mango are found on the nose of this Chardonnay. A rich entry starts the palate with flavors of pineapple, honeydew melon and honey. The wine is mouth-coating with a note of almond oil, and finishes with a pleasing minerality.

Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon
Engaging and seductive, the 2002 vintage delivers the signature aromas we look for on Cinq Cépages – chocolate covered cherries and hints of mocha. Deep, dense and beautifully balanced, a medium – bodied entry fills the mouth with black plums, hibiscus notes and an exotic floral note that wrap around big, juicy tannins. Highly extracted and perfectly balanced, this wine delivers cedar and sweet roasted oak notes throughout a lingering finish.

Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon

Durell Vineyard Pinot Noir
Now a favorite of many, this Pinot Noir from the acclaimed Durell Vineyard has everything to please the most demanding palate. Dried cranberries, black plums, cassis, rose petals and brown spice aromas leap out from a glass of this wine. The very lush and soft texture is not only very satisfying in the mouth; it’s also extremely attractive with loads of ripe black fruit and exotic mocha flavors. Fume Blanc La Petite Etoile
Enticing aromas of lemongrass, grapefruit zest, crane melon and hints of nutmeg begin the nose on this Fume Blanc. Racy acidity and bright fruit flavors of Meyer lemons and green apples on the mouth awake the palate. A surprisingly refreshing mid-palate layers the mouth with creamy vanilla notes and hints of key lime and kiwi. A beautiful, long, lemony finish makes this wine an easy match for many dishes.

Fumé Blanc, Sonoma County
Crisp and refreshing, this Fumé Blanc offers fragrant aromas of green tea, lemongrass and lemon meringue pie. Flavors of grapefruit, spice and wet stone combine with lively acidity, creating a beautifully balanced wine with a lingering lemon zest finish.

Late Harvest Riesling, Belle Terre Vineyard, Alexander Valley
Intense aromas of ripe apricot, peach and Bosc pear fill the nose of this luscious dessert wine. A richly-textured sweet entry leads to apricot nectar, yellow peach and honey flavors. The wine is perfectly balanced with acidity and has a clean finish.

Malbec Reserve, Sonoma County
Attractive aromas of black tea, lavender and hibiscus give this wine a truly inviting nose. Juicy and explosive upon entry, this Malbec is loaded with flavors of raspberry, mocha and milk chocolate. The wine has power and a solid mid-palate structure, yet the tannins are soft and round and lead to a lush finish.

Malbec, St. Jean Estate Vineyard
With intense color and loads of black fruits, this very unique wine from our own estate vineyard displays enjoyable floral notes along with the complexity you expect from this fascinating varietal. Unfined and unfiltered, this wine has a long life ahead. Exotic notes of violets, perfume, blueberry and black raspberry jump from the glass. An elegant entry of fresh hibiscus, black plums and chocolate flavors surround a rich mid-palate and fill the mouth with a complex wine that showcases forward fruit and character. Tasting room only, less than 150 cases produced. Drink now through 2014.

Merlot, St. Jean Estate Vineyard
This Merlot is from our estate vineyard, located to the right of the main parking area. The blend is 95% Merlot and 5% Malbec, both fermented and aged separately for 28 months. The Malbec brings additional structure and complexity to the wine. The signature of our Chateau St. Jean Estate Vineyard Merlot is a nose of chocolate and ripe black fruit. The 2004 bottling is no exception. Big heady aromas of chocolate and Bing cherries leap from the glass while blackberries, raspberries and hints of espresso surround big chewy tannins from the entry through the mid-palate. Highly structured and well balanced, a mouth filling note of bittersweet chocolate carries throughout a long finish. This is just a terrific wine. Anticipated maturity 2008-2013.

Pinot Blanc, Robert Young Vineyard
Classic Alexander Valley aromas of rich, ripe pear, melon and yellow apples fill the nose of this Pinot Blanc. On the palate, this wine begins with a rich entry loaded with flavors of nectarine, peaches, apples and hints of citrus that surround perfectly balanced acidity.

Pinot Noir, Sonoma County
This Pinot has always been a favorite of the staff and has rapidly become one of yours, too! Vintage after vintage, our winemaker, Margo, continues to craft a deductive Pinot Noir from selected Sonoma County vineyards. She loves to say it’s got to be grown in the “right places” and she has fond them. Lovely aromas of raspberries, black plums, rose petals, cola and mocha welcome you in the glass of the Pinot. On the palette, this wine is velvety and satisfying with a gorgeous texture. Simple delicious and it’s a bargain in today’s World of Pinot Noirs!

Robert Young Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay
Meyer lemons, ripe peaches and a hint of gardenia begin the aroma adventure on the nose of this delicate wine. The signature viscosity is once again found in the mouth on this vintage of Reserve Robert Young Vineyard Chardonnay and coats the palate with layers of yellow stone fruits, smoky vanilla notes and a subtle hint of almond. Perfect acidity and structure make this a well-balanced wine that lingers on the mouth long after it has been tasted.

Sonoma County Johannisberg Riesling
Classic Alexander Valley aromas of apple blossoms, papaya, mango and peaches marry notes of honeysuckle that unleash with one swirl of the glass on this Johannisberg Riesling. Rich, juicy and viscous, this wine is nicely balanced and offers in the palate some ripe flavors of apricot, nectarines and yellow pears with a couch of mineral notes and citrus on the palate that lingers through a long and crisp finish.

Fragrant aromas of white peach and honeysuckle begin the nose on this Sonoma Valley Viognier. A medium-bodied entry fills the mouth with flavors of orange blossom, nectarine, and lemon and vanilla cream. With crisp acidity and subtle hints of oak, this Viognier has a long, lingering finish.
