Viansa Winery

Viansa Winery Founded in 1989 by Sam and Vicki Sebastiani, Viansa Winery & Italian Marketplace is a destination winery in the Carneros grape-growing region at the entrance to the Sonoma Valley Wine Country. Viansa was created as a way to share a love of good food, wine and Italian heritage with visitors from around the world. Dedicated to the marriage of wine and food, Viansa truly offers visitors a taste of Tuscany in Sonoma Valley. Today, the winery is proud to be the premier producer of Italian varietals in the United States! Viansa's tile-roofed Tuscan Villa sits on a hilltop surrounded by olive trees and vineyards, overlooking Viansa's 90-acre waterfowl preserve, which has drawn acclaim from environmental groups across the nation. Outfitted with hand-painted murals, massive beams and Italian marble, the villa exudes Tuscan charm. The extensive grounds are planted with Italian cypresses and stone pines. Viansa boasts a line-up that includes wines made from well-known grapes such as Sangiovese and Pinot Grigio along with lesser known varieties such as Arneis, Aleatico and Primitivo. We also offer an array of award-winning California varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, as well as our own proprietary blends. Viansa believes that fine wine should be enjoyed with good food. We have created an extensive line of Cal-Ital culinary delights ranging from pestos and aiolis to salsas, marinades, dipping oils, dessert sauces and baking mixes. Viansa combined a love of food and wine in creating the Tuscan Club, the leading direct-to-consumer wine and food club in the United States. In addition to receiving a package of Viansa wine and food each month, members enjoy savings on Viansa wines and foods, our in-house Tuscan magazine, invitations to members-only dinners and tastings, along with VIP treatment at the winery. Viansa Winery & Italian Marketplace is open daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with public tours available at 11 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Tours of the Viansa Wetlands take place February through May, weather permitting.

Products

  "Athena" Dolcetto
Crafted entirely from Dolcetto grapes, a varietal native to northern Italy, our “Athena” Dolcetto is a fruity delight, an off-dry red bursting with notes of raspberry and cranberry. ”Athena” is a winery favorite, even of white wine aficionados. It pairs nicely with a variety of foods, varying from picnic fare to elegant entrees.
  "Piccolo" Sangiovese
Viansa’s “Piccolo” is the lightest of our Sangioveses. It is a drinkable food-friendly wine that is at home at any casual gathering. A blend of Sangiovese grapes from Sonoma Valley and Carneros, our 2002 “Piccolo” boasts bright fruit flavors of tart cherry and light tannins.
  "Vittoria" Pinot Grigio
Award winning Bronze Medalist for Chardonnay in the 2005 Pacific Rim International Wine Competition, Viansa’s 2004 Pinot Grigio has light flavors of apricots, pears and green apples with hints of orange and lingering nutty flavors reminiscent of hazelnuts and macadamia nuts.
  2000 Cabernet Sauvignon
This exquisite 2000 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, 99.4% Cabernet Sauvignon and .6% other, was aged for 20 months in a combination of 59% American and 41% French Oak barrels. This complex and full-bodied wine has well extracted fruit and tannins with aromas and flavors of raspberry, blackberry, plums, anise and spice. Barrel aging adds nuances of sweet vanilla and toasted coconut. This wine has balanced acidity and an appealing cranberry, wild strawberry and red currant finish that lasts.
  2003 Lorenzo
Viansa’s 2003 Lorenzo has a nice entry with flavors of ripe boysenberry & blackberries. It boasts wonderfully balanced tannins and flows across the palate, with beautiful colors of blackberry with magenta hues. We suggest you decant for at least 1 hour before serving and can be cellared up to 5 years and would be at it’s best cellared for 1-2 years before enjoying.
  2004 "Pacomio" Aleatico
Our 2004 “Pacomio” is 100% Aleatico harvested entirely from the Sonoma Valley appellation. Aleatico is closely related to the Muscat grape and boasts similar floral aromas and flavors that include pomegranate and strawberry. Thanks to it's light approachable flavors, "Pacomio" is an ideal wine for those just getting to know red wines.
  2004 Viansa Chardonnay
Our 2004 Chardonnay is a blend of grapes from Sonoma County (75%) and Napa County (25%), resulting bright flavors of Granny Smith Apples and citrus with hints of nuts along with a crisp lively acid. Viansa’s 2004 Chardonnay is wonderful with shellfish dishes with pasta, baked or pan-fried white fish like sole or halibut and summer salads.
  Arneis
In time to celebrate spring, Viansa's 2004 Arneis has just been released! Bursting with fruit flavors of apples and star fruit (exotic fruit), this blend of 79% Arneis, 16% Chardonnay and 5% Vernaccia, is the perfect compliment to warm spring and summer days.
  Freisa
Freisa is prized for its wonderful raspberry flavors. Our California version was crafted from Sonoma Valley grapes, resulting in a seductive wine with aromas of berries, cedar, & toasted oak.
  Frescolina
A delightfully refreshing blend of Muscat Canelli, Symphony, Viognier & Pinot Blanc. Originally created as a dessert wine, this updated version is only slightly sweet & is a wonderful aperitif.
  Imbianco
“Imbianco” is one of the most fun and friendly wines, prefect for barbecues, picnics and pool parties.
  Ossidiana
Crafted mostly from Cabernet Franc, Ossidiana is our flagship wine. It is a rich, intense red that can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 15 years.
  Primo Rosato
Viansa’s 2004 Primo Rosato has a gorgeous deep ruby color. It is young and crisp yet vibrant like a light rose! A perfect refreshing compliment for a romantic spring or summer celebration!
  Tocai Friulano
We're excited to introduce this brand new white Italian wine to our line-up! A crisp and delicious wine, with aromas of apricot, guava, pineapple and glazed nuts.
  Viansa “La Nebbia” Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is a grape native to foggy Piemonte in Northern Italy. It is right at home in our Sonoma Mountain vineyard where it receives ample morning sun and afternoon shade. We blended in Primitivo (12.5%), Teroldego (2.3%) and Sangiovese (.2%) to round out this distinctive wine. A dry red with good acidity, our 2001 “La Nebbia” offers earthy flavors of tobacco and leather along with subtle notes of dried cherry and smoky oak.
