Village Winery
|

The Village Winery and its 10 acres of vineyards are just outside the heart of the village of Waterford, a National Historic Landmark. The winery is housed in a restored farm structure next to our large, old bank barn. All of our wines are crafted entirely by hand to preserve the subtle flavors of the grape varieties and are aged in French oak barrels to further enhance them. Along with our own wines, we offer wines from several distant Virginia wineries. See also the art, craft, and products of local villagers which will be routinely exhibited at the winery. Come and enjoy our relaxing country setting, and bring a picnic if the weather is nice. TOURS: Saturday 11am-5pm and Sunday 12pm-5pm. (Open by appointment Wednesday through Friday.)

Directions
From Leesburg take Route 7 west approximately 4 miles. Exit onto Route 9 west (Charles Town Pike). Go 1/2 mile and turn right onto Clarks Gap Road (before the Shell Station). Go 3.5 miles (passing through the village and bearing right onto Loyalty Road as you leave the village). Turn right onto Browns Lane just past Waterford Elementary School. Winery and vineyard are the first driveway on the right. Follow signs to parking.

Apple Wine
Our apple wine is a blend of Virginian grown apples. The wine was fermented in French Oak barrels on its native yeast to help retain a soft fruit finish.

Cabernet Franc
This is one of the adaptable grapes grown in Virginia. Our Cabernet Franc is a dark wine with a hefty palate weight. Aromas of blackberry and black currant dominate while having a balanced, moderate acidity. This wine pairs well with chicken, pasta, and beef dishes.

Cabernet Franc Rosé
Our Rosé dry light wine with a soft palate weight. This wine has a smooth front while having a soft pepper finish. This wine pairs well with chicken, light beef, and hearty poultry.

Elderberry
The elderberry is one of the most common fruit-bearing shrubs in North America. Elderberry wine is a full-bodied red wine with a rich fruit flavor. It is thought to be highly medicinal, thus the name deriving from "elder" as people who ate the elderberry supoosedlt lived to an old age. The berry flavor of this red wine paris well with roasted chicken and beef dishes.

Merlot
Merlot is well adapted in Virginia. Our Merlot is a medium to dark wine with a soft palate weight. Aromas of raspberry and blackberry dominate while having a balanced, moderate acidity. This wine pairs well with chicken, light beef, and heavy poultry.

Merlot Cabernet Franc Blend
Our Merlot Cabernet Franc Blend brings the characteristics of both varieties together in a balanced wine. Aromas of raspberry, black currant, and blackberry dominate while having a balanced, moderate acidity. This wine pairs well with strongly flavored meats, such as lamb, vension, and wild fowl.

Petit Verdot
Considered a blending wine in Europe – Petit Verdot is a complex, dense wine with a soft finish. Aromas of raspberry and black currant dominate while having a balanced, moderate acidity. This wine pairs well with strongly flavored meats, such as lamb, venison, and wild fowl.

Viognier
Our Viognier is barrel fermented, with floral aromas of ripe peaches, apricots and pineapple and a round, rich palate that tastes of tropical fruits and herbs. This wine pairs well with poultry and seafood.
