Camas Prairie Winery

Established in 1983, Camas Prairie Winery continues the century-old North Idaho winemaking tradition first begun in nearby Lewiston in the late 1800's. Owners, Sue and Stuart Scott started "utilizing our basement and two garages," Eventually they moved downtown to Main street, in what was an old Firestone (tires) building, "It had a great warehouse" in the heart of downtown Moscow.
Camas Prairie Winery patrons are enjoying the newly remodeled interior of the historic building. The Scott's took the interior of the building back to the original brick, restored the windows, and exposed huge, 100 year old red fir beams. They added a wine bar on a new mezzanine, where guests can enjoy the delicious wines, and sparkling wines the Scott's create. The tasting room also features works by artists from the local watercolor society. Camas makes 14 varieties of wine. Their wines include handmade sparkling wines, Merlot, Lemberger, Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon as well as proprietary blends. "We also make five honeymead wines, - no tannins and sweet." Scott said that the honeymeads have won two silver and one bronze medal at the Northwest Wine Coalition competition in recent years. "We also make a sweet dessert Cabernet called Star Garnet Red, which goes really well with chocolate," Scott said.
