Sharpe Hill Winery

Come and visit Sharpe Hill Vineyard, the award winning winery of Connecticut's Quiet Corner! Sharpe Hill Vineyard has received over 140 medals in international tastings and is located in the town of Pomfret - just minutes from scenic Route 169 and from the Putnam Antiques District.
The winery is open year round to the public for wine tastings and the purchase of wine every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sharpe Hill Vineyard also offers gourmet dining for lunch and dinner (reservations required), and is also available for private parties and receptions (please call or email us for more information).

Directions
From I-395 - Exit 93. Head west on Route 101 (which becomes Route 44) for 7 miles to Route 97. At the junction of the Routes 44 and 97 (Rucki's General Store), go south on Route 97 into the town of Hampton for exactly 4 miles to Kimball Hill Road. Turn left onto Kimball Hill Road and the Winery will be 1.8 miles on your right.
From I-84 - Exit 69. Head east on Route 74 to the end. At the junction of Routes 74 and 44 head east. Stay on Route 44 until the Abington District of Pomfret. At the junction of Routes 44 and 97 (Rucki's General Store), go south on 97 into the town of Hampton for exactly 4 miles to Kimball Hill Road. Turn left onto Kimball Hill Road and the Winery will be 1.8 miles on your right.

American Chardonnay
A barrel fermented Chardonnay with a delicately balanced bouquet of fruit and oak. This wine is both well structured as well balanced. Sharpe Hill Chardonnay is best when served with salmon, or other fish or chicken dishes. The American Chardonnay has received 38 medals.

Ballet of Angels
A crisp and semi-dry white wine with a lovely floral bouquet. It has flavors of citrus and pear with a long finish. We suggest serving this wine well chilled as an aperitif or with spicy foods. Ballet of Angels has received 56 medals.

Cabernet Franc
A Bordeaux style wine that is made entirely from Cabernet Franc grapes. This wine has a classic Cabernet bouquet and a delicate soft finish. We suggest serving this wine with all red meat dishes as well as chocolate desserts. The Cabernet Franc has received 15 medals including.

Dry Riesling
A fruity Riesling wine which is made dry in the Alsatian style. This is our newest wine released October 2004.

Red Seraph
A dry table wine that is a robust blend based on the St. Croix grape. This lovely colored red wine is both soft and smooth, and is the perfect accomaniment to beef, lamb, and pasta dishes. The Red Seraph has received 16 medals.

Reserve Chardonnay
An estate bottled, Burgundian Chardonnay. This elegant dry wine is both crisp and well balanced, and has a soft finish. It also complements food very well - especially seafood and chicken. The Reserve Chardonnay has received 8 medals.

Select Late Harvest
A wine that is made entirely from estate grown, handpicked botrytised Vingnoles. This wine is a mouthfilling blend of honey and fruit, with a nicely balanced level of acidity, and a bouquet of peaches and apricots as well as a remarkably long finish. The Select Late Harvest has received 25 medals.

St. Croix
Made completely from estate grown, hand picked St. Croix grapes. This is an incredibly deep red, smooth, dry Rhone style wine which is aged in oak barrels for over 18 months. The St. Croix has received 12 medals.
