Blue Slip Winery

Blue Slip started in the old city on West Jackson Avenue. Founder and wine enthusiast Jeff Galyon opened Blue Slip Winery in August of 2009 in Knoxville’s Old City district as Knoxville’s first winery and Tennessee’s first urban winery. Blue Slip Winery became an outlet for local farmers just in time for the “Farm to Table” and “Farm to Glass” movement. Within a couple of years, laws passed that allowed direct shipping and custom crush. Blue Slip became the first winery in the State of Tennessee to contract with local growers to make wines using their fruit so that they could sell the wines at their Farm Wineries. The tiny winery needed to expand its square footage and began looking for another downtown location. After many months of searching, Blue Slip Winery decided on The 1903 Historical Southern Railway Station. Renovations began and Blue Slip Winery opened its doors in the new location in October 2015. The Historical Southern Railway Station sits just across the railroad tracks from Blue Slip’s first location bridging the gap between Knoxville’s Old City and Downtown North. This uniquely elegant facility offers a beautiful tasting bar, ballrooms for events, and plenty of free on-site parking. We enjoy seeing folks having a good time! As our community gets to experience this historical facility again, we smile. Lots of memorable stories have been heard since we’ve been here. There are more stories to be told and even more to be made.

Cynthiana
An American grape that is full bodied and reminiscent of a hearty Cabernet Sauvignon. Robust and fruit forward.
