Blue Duck Winery is a wine tasting room and event center located in Albany, Texas. It is the the brainchild and dream of Adrian and Sheila Allen, owners of Cottonwood Springs Vineyards, located in Cottonwood, Texas. Shortly after retiring from careers in education, the Allen’s put in a vineyard at their retirement home in Cottonwood, Texas. For several years now, they have been growing tempranillo and viognier grapes to sell to other wineries. Their grapes have been used in several award wines for other wineries. This sparked the idea of opening their own winery. As the Allen’s began making plans to open a winery and tasting room, a partnership was formed with Austin Chamness and Stacey Wardrup. The name Blue Duck for the winery was created to celebrate the idea of keeping alive life-long relationships and friendships. Adrian and Austin played football together for the McMurry Indians and belonged to a group of friends who are affectionately known as the “ducks”, thus the name Blue Duck.
