Description:
Montepulciano is a very late ripener, usually picked here in early November. The 2004 ripened earlier and the sugars were higher. The wine is all around bigger and rounder with a richer mouth and feel. Aromas are curiously similar to the leaner, elegant 2003, earth, tar, licorice and dried herbs. The 2004 Emilia’s Cuvée is broad, dense and lush, a bit jammy on the palate, and the flavors hang to a lengthy finish.
