White Whisper Wine Details
Price: $15.95 per bottle

Description: Semi-Dry White Wine, Wisconsin-grown Frontenac Gris and LaCrosse grapes. Earthy, peach nose with tangerine & umami on the mid-palate.

Varietal Definition
La Crosse:
LaCrosse is a part of a long line of successful Elmer Swenson-created grapes. A hybrid of Seyval Blanc and the Minn. 78 x S.1000, the vine produces grapes capable of making good quality, fruity white wine. Compared to its parent Seyval, the vine is cold hardier, and ripens slightly earlier. Grown in Minnesota and Wisconsin, the high-yielding vine will do well in all the upper Midwest states with short growing seasons and cold winters. It has average susceptibility to the usual diseases.
Frontenac gris:
'Frontenac gris' is a white wine grape variety which makes table and dessert wines; is very winter hardy with trunks surviving temperatures as low as -38C; is a mid-season variety with an average harvest date of Sept. 30 in Minnesota (approx. 45-degree latitude); yields and vigor are high; has moderate susceptibility to powdery mildew and black rot, low susceptibility to downy mildew (on the leaves and fruit), and moderate susceptibility to foliar phylloxera; has small gray berries on medium clusters that are somewhat loose; berry splitting and botrytis have not been observed even under wet conditions; wine quality is very good, and aromas include peach, apricot, citrus, and pineapple with no herbaceous or labrusca aromas.
