Dry Madeleine Angevine

Dry Madeleine Angevine Wine Details
Price:

Description: Madeleine Angevine hails from the Loire Valley of France and like its cousins, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, displays a lively mix of grassy and citrus flavors. We've chosen to finish ours with just a trace of sweetness - still dry, but distinct from our bone-dry offerings. Smooth, fragrant, and with a very bright finish, this wine makes an excellent gift when you don't know whether the recipient prefers dry wine or sweet.

Varietal Definition
Sauvignon Blanc:
Sauvignon Blanc is widely grown in California — at over 15,000 acres, it’s now the third most planted variety — and often assumes the moniker ‘Fume Blanc’. This popular synonym, credited to Napa’s Robert Mondavi, derives from the grape’s historic home of Pouilly in France’s Upper Loire Valley, where Sauvignon Blanc is the dominant varietal and goes locally by the name of ‘Blanc Fumé’. When treated with respect and afforded suitable growing conditions, Sauvignon Blanc is one of the wine world’s darlings. Steely, racy acidity, green, gooseberry fruit, asparagus and a grassy, herbaceous character characterize dry wines made from this grape.
Madeleine Angevine:
Also known as Madeline Angevine or MADELEINE ANGEVINE. Cool region table grape cross used for Riesling-type white table wine production in the United Kingdom and Germany. It is a cross between Madeleine Royale and Précoce de Malingre. Not only is it a widely grown variety in its own right but has claim to fame as one of the parents of the Siegerrebe and Comtessa varieties. It grows well in cool climates and is known for producing light white wines with citrus and herb flavors.
