Odom Springs Vineyards

Odom Springs Vineyards is a family owned estate winery located in the lush rolling hills of north Georgia. The vineyards forming Odom Springs Vineyards are located less than two hours north of Atlanta, on the western end of Union County near Blairsville, Georgia in an area known locally as the Young Cane community. Traveling east on Hwy 515 from Blue Ridge towards Blairsville, our vineyards are located approximately one mile inside Union County just past Sharp Top Mountain.
For more than a century, the Odom family has owned land in the Young Cane valley. The vineyards and projected winery are situated on 16 acres of Odom land, most recently owned by the late Earl Odom and his wife, Gwen. The Creekside, New Ground, and Hillside vineyards are located on the nearby 60-acre farm of Gordon (Papaw/Pop) and Christine (Grandmaw) Odom, known as Pop's Walk.

Directions
Traveling from Blairsville: Traveling west on Highway 515/76 towards Blue Ridge, turn right at the intersection of Highway 515 and Highway 325. Go .2 miles and turn left on Odom Road, the winery is at the end of Odom Road.
Traveling from Blue Ridge: Traveling east on Highway 515/76 towards Blairsville, turn left at the intersection of Highway 515 and Highway 325. Go .2 miles and turn left on Odom Road, the winery is at the end of Odom Road.
Traveling from Murphy, NC: Travel south on Highway 129 into Georgia. Turn right on Highway 325, travel approximately 8 miles, turn right on Odom Road. The winery is at the end of Odom Road.

Cabernet Sauvignon
Presently, Cabernet Sauvignon is the only European grape we grow. European grapes are much more susceptible to diseases in the eastern United States. Cabernet Sauvignon is by far the most popular wine sold in the United States because of it's robust and full-bodied taste. This grape requires a long growing season and warm temperatures to mature and makes a high quality wine. Selectively planted on a nice hillside location on the Odom Farm site, we're excited about it's potential.

Chambourcin
The predominant red grape we grow is the Chambourcin grape. Chambourcin is a vigorous French-American hybrid grape that is very well suited to our climate. Grapes grown east of the Rockies must be able to survive late spring frosts, various mildews and shortened growing seasons. Chambourcin needs a longer growing season than some French-American hybrids and will produce a highly rated red wine when the fruit is fully matured. We plan to offer Chambourcin as a stand alone single varietal red wine, a nice dry semi-sweet blush wine, and blended wines with our other red grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon and Norton. We have Chambourcin planted in the Creekside and New Ground vineyards at Pop's Walk, and also at the Odom Farm vineyard. Each location will offer it's distinct quality to the wine.

Norton (Cynthiana)
Norton grapes are American grapes. As such, they naturally have excellent disease resistance and produce a rich, full-bodied red wine with a dry character similar in style to Cabernet Sauvignon. Demanding a long growing season, we hope to offer our Norton wine as a single varietal wine and use as blends with Chambourcin and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Norton vineyard is located at Pop's Walk in the Hillside vineyard which receives excellent sunshine all day.

Seyval Blanc
Seyval Blanc is a vigorous French-American hybrid also. It's an excellent white wine variety with a nice fruity aroma and taste. We plan to offer Seyval as a dry white wine, a semi-sweet white wine and blended with other white grapes. Seyval is planted in the Hillside vineyard and in the New Ground vineyard at Pop's Walk.
